Au Pair Not A Maid

All I thought Au Pair means "house maid" like what other house hold usually has. But there is a deeper meaning of what Au Pair is. Au Pair refers to a young girl/lady who apparently employed under such arrangement to work. Such work includes like taking care of kids, do household chores for the exchange of lodging, food and a chance to know the culture and language.

Au Pair is from the French term Au-Pair that means "on a par" or equal to. Au-Pair must be given equal rights and should be treated as a family member than a public servant. Both parties must learn each others norm's and culture's. Since Au-Pair work and take care of the family's responsibilities, they will receive a monetary allowance for her personal needs.

I have heard a lot of this Au-Pair job and most people misinterpret this humane kind of job. Why humane?? because you work with humility for just small exchange. I heard that a lot of host are taking advantage of their Au Pair and that is not right. Legal action must be done, no one deserve to be abused.
