When we moved my kids really wanted us to get TV By Direct because all their new friends at school were watching Jersey Shore, that terrible show on MTV. I was really hesitant because I wasn’t sure it was a great example for them but after a while I relented because I didn’t want to keep them out of the loop if this is what everyone else was talking about since they were trying to make new friends.

I don’t really like the topics on that show and all the drinking and sex but my kids are teens and we’ve talked to them about all that stuff anyway. I guess they’re going to do what they want to do and all we can do is be supportive and open and hope that if they ever have questions or something that they’ll come to us first! I love my kids but I’ve learned that keeping them in a bubble is not the best way to keep the communication lines open between us.
